THE UNIVERSE BIOS- Official Homepage - HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS The UNIVERSE BIOS has been designed to work on all MVS hardware types (SLOT1 and MULTISLOT), AES hardware and the three C.D. systems. Saying that installation difficulty varies depending on the actual hardware model you have. MV-1, MV-1A(CH), MV-1F(S/T), MV-1FZ, MV-(2F/4F/6F) MVS models in this category are by far the easiest to install the UNIVERSE BIOS on. No soldering is required because the BIOS should already be in a socket. It is a simple case of taking out the original bios and fitting the UNIVERSE BIOS in its place. MV-1AX, MV-1ACHX This model is known to have the bios soldered to the PCB. To install you should follow the AES install information below. MV-1B, MV-1C These MVS models contain a BIOS that is known to be soldered to the PCB, the chip size is also different than that used in other MVS models. Because of this the MV-1B and MV-1C are very difficult to install the UNIVERSE BIOS, you should not attempt to install unless you are skilled with a soldering iron. AES SYSTEMS The A.E.S system contains a BIOS that is known to be soldered to the PCB, saying that the actual chip used is of a standard DIP size. There are two different methods of installing the UNIVERSE BIOS. One involves removing the old bios and fitting a socket which is the preferred method, info on the other can be found here. You should not attempt to install unless you are skilled with a soldering iron. 3rd party installers. **
CD SYSTEMS For the Neo Geo CD system please visit the dedicated CD Systems page. ** 3rd party installers can install a UNIVERSE BIOS to your hardware if you are unable to do it yourself. They will supply the UNIVERSE BIOS as part of the install as you will need to send your Neo Geo hardware to them. I cannot be held responsible for loss or damage of systems modded by 3rd party installers but at this time no issues have been reported against the installers listed. Only 3rd party installers install the official UNIVERSE BIOS. Having one installed from elsewhere means you are getting a counterfeit UNIVERSE BIOS which is not eligible for upgrade. You are giving your money to someone who is stealing from this project.
